Sir Elton tells gays worldwide: don’t take none of that shizz!
He always said that Saturday night was alright for fighting, now it seems like any day of the week will do. For fighting back, that is…
In a piece in the New Statesman, Uncle Elton has told gays that whenever they hear homophobia, they should shout back, ‘whether the bigot is in our local pub or a thousand miles away’ (though we’re not sure exactly how far our voices would carry). ‘We should all stand up and speak out for basic human rights,’ quoth he.
Now say what you like about Elton – and there are those who thinks he grates a little – but he does put his mouth where his, erm, mouth is – especially now he’s not married to a lady anymore (don’t worry – we didn’t mean My Partner David Furnish). He told anti-gay Aussie PM John Howard he could shove it and is now supporting El Salvador activist William Hernandez. We still don’t quite understand the Eminem collaboration, mind you.
