Kate and Leo, sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G

The Titanic duo are back together after having gone down on that ship. This time her husband will be watching she doesn’t get her top off while he pretends to ‘sketch’ her…

We're all going to die!

It was the biggest – and arguably, the most ridiculous – film of all time (the French & Saunders version with leprechauns was far superior) and it made megastars of the lovely Katie Winslet and the ‘not quite so lovely but we’d still do him’ Leo DiCaprio. Now they are back in a film cunningly directed by Kate’s husband, Sam Mendes (he of American Beauty)…

The movie in question is a BBC Films jobbie called Revolutionary Road which is *read in that deep American accent they have in trailers going ‘It was a time of evil…’* ‘a heart-rending story of thwarted passion and the search for fulfillment. A young couple find themselves torn between their own desires and the pressure to conform. With [naturally] explosive consequences.’

They’re going to start filming it this summer so it probably won’t be ready in time to ‘celebrate’ the tenth anniversary of Titanic, which is this year.

While you wait for said filmic device, here’s a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Titanic. Thanks.

  1. Oh, shut up. I liked Titanic. Especially the bit where Kate comes out on deck with the captain and – in passing – mentions ‘Captain, there don’t seem to be enough lifeboats on this deck for everyone on the ship’. It’s exactly that sort of thing you would notice.

  2. Oh, this French & Saunders version totally made the movie for me, especially where they go downstairs and mix with the Irish people and do Riverdancing.

  3. Titanic is the biggest load of old nonsense ever. The one touching image – of the old people deciding to die on their bed – was nicked from the far superior A Night to Remember. Ooh, do I sound like a geek?

  4. I have to admit, I blubbed like a fool when the boat started sinking (although felt complete apathy as to whether Leo carked it or not)
