A new New York store based on, apparently, a London gents’ club. S’nice.
So, Thomas Ford (not related to Kate Ford, the woman behind TracyLove Barlow, but the man who made Gucci a desireable proposition) has only gone and opened himself up a shop on Madison Avenue (not the girl group of ‘Don’t Call Me Baby’-fame, but the New York Street)…
And it’s all fabulous and there’ll be like butlers and housemaids (previously known as ‘shop assistants’) walking around, a bar (hooray!), a hidden lift (why hidden? Don’t they want people to go upstairs?) and a beaver rug (boo!) It’s big, it’s full of Tom Ford stuff and he reckons someone will say ‘Hello’ to you when you walk in. Hello? Usually, in NYC, you get the full, ‘Hi! How! Are! You! How’s! Your! Day!? so ‘Hello’ should be a welcome break from that kind of crap.
And, bearing in mind it’s supposed to be a bit like a London gents’ club, it’ll be open by appointment only from 7-11am and from 5-7pm, so we muggles will have to cram in there in between times. Apparently, Tom asked himself where Cary Grant would shop today and created this emporium as the answer. If what we hear about Cary Grant is correct, the answer would have been the Brewer Street Prowler Store.
