David Beckham will never be a ridiculous cartoon character. Official!

Krusty the Clown!

It was good enough for Tony Blair, Michael Jackson, Lord and Lady Linda McCartney of the Country Pie, Ricky Gervais and David Bowie but not, apparently, for David Beckham.

The squeaky one has been asked by Matt Groening to appear in an episode of The Simpsons but has told him he can sling his hook/gertcha/not today thank you…

The reason for this snub to a cultural institution/some very good publicity is apparently a snidey comment in The Simpsons about David’s extra-time activities with one Rebecca Loos.

You’ll remember that Marge Simpson hosted Channel 4’s Alternative Christmas Message in 2004. Well, withinside of said show, she reckoned that her marriage to Homer was ‘as solid as the union between your David Beckham and Posh Spice.’ So far, so good.

Then, ‘Oh, he did that? With his assistant? That’s so sad. OK, moving on…’

Groening is reported to be inconsolable. ‘Never mind,’ he said.

  1. Did the Beckhams ever sue Rebecca Loos like they said they were going to, by the way? Wonder why that would be… They seemed so sure that she was lying, why wouldn’t they want to sue her for damaging their squeaky clean image like that. Wonder what it could be? No, it’s not coming. Can’t think of any reason in the whole wide world why they wouldn’t sue.

  2. When will Beverly Craven be honoured? How about Anne Boleyn?
