If you look above, you will find the waterfront of London’s glittering Manhattan’s Lower West Side. Also known as the Meatpacking District. Also known as a whole load of fun. Newly adorned with a white thing.
The white thing is the work of Frank Gehry – the gennelman behind such postmodern wonders as Bilbao’s Guggenheim, Los Angeles’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, and a whole bunch of other stuff that doesn’t spring to mind at this present time.
Anyways, the white thing is Frankie’s first realised New York commission, it’s supposed to look like a yacht or something, it’s made entirely of glass (the outside, anywho), and it looks like something straight out of a Leicester out-of-town business park.
Here are more pictures of said building:
There are some clever bendy bits where the glass twists a whole 150 degrees by way of cold-warping (us either), it looks kinda pretty in good lighting, and it has a swish-swish-swish thing going on but it’s sorta, you know…
*peers over spectacles*
