G-A-Y’s Jeremy Joseph to take over Heaven? Not ‘the afterlife’ but ‘the nightclub’

Good As You

You’ve got to hand it to Lord Jeremy of Joseph: he does know what he’s doing.

His G-A-Y brand has taken dolly clubland into the tabloids with headliners like Madonna, Christina Aguilera and, of course, Kylie rocking the house on a regular basis. But what’s going to happen if they knock the rather grungy old Astoria down as they’ve been promising? Well, a little bird told us…

In so far unconfirmed reports (but PLEASE let it be true!), we hear that Jeremy Joseph is moving his G-A-Y thang, kit and kaboodle, to legendary gay niterie Heaven, about 15 minutes quick walking down the road.

And because G-A-Y runs on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays we’re assuming that it means he’s buying the venue. But will it change its name? Will it be called G-A-Y at Heaven? Is this whole story a bunch of old hoo-haa with not a grain of truth to it? If anyone knows anything, pop your comments withinside of the comments bit.

And do we like this idea? Again, comments welcome, no sign-up necessary.

  1. Hmm, sounds intriguing. I was wondering what would happen to GAY once the Astoria is knocked down.

  2. I think it would be genius. Heaven’s a load of old shite anyway. It needs a drastic change of something. This would be perfect.

  3. I wonder if Jeremy’s going to install that nice chip stand he has that makes the whole room smell of frying!

  4. I have heard from a very good source that Heaven has been struggling a bit financially … a very slow Summer … they’re not totally on the rocks, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the current owners were happy to get out if the offer was right.

  5. One thing, though … it wouldn’t be Jeremy Joseph making the purchase. He’s a promoter, and don’t own shit … he has no capital of his own to speak of.

  6. Lets face it, Heaven has been shit since Wayne G left and their music policy went up its own arse. Out went the anthems and in came the non desrcipt tribal and funky house policy. Sadly out went the punters too. This can only be a good thing.

  8. They are the two iconic gay scene clubs, for different reasons. Somewhere like heaven, with it’s space and multiple floors, must cost upwards of 25 million (this about how much it would raise if converted into flats – decent property price gauge). Jeremy Joseph alone could not fund that. Besides, all the poeple who say there is no where else G A Y could go, spend two minutes thinking about the massive theatres throughout London, the numerous clubs that may be available to other promotors. Maybe if he was a half decent busniessman, he woudl realise it’s easy to change from a cheap mass market to a more expensive exclusive and therefor more desirable brand?

    One word – bollocks.

  9. JJ would be mad to go into Heaven. His brand is built up on offering big chart acts to 2000 people. Although Heaven is big, it’s split into 5 rooms and would never be the same as what he had in Astoria. But then again a merge of the 2 superclubs would make Heaven the most popular gay venue in the world again, whoever owns it.
