It was a brave move. Do Judy Garland Live at Carnegie Hall without a). actually being Judy Garland and b). without bright red lipstick (it was more of a frosty pink in the event).
But the risk paid off and Rufus Wainwright’s ‘Does Judy at Carnegie Hall’ was a triumph that’s been carted round the world (we had the London Palladium version) and now – people with money – put on CD for you to own (Why on CDs and DVDs do they say ‘for you to own’ rather than ‘for you to buy’? Does it make the process of purchase seem more meaningful somehow?)
