This is Madonna on the cover of Dazed and Confused magazine, also known in the business of show as Dazed and Unpaid magazine. That’s an ‘in-joke’, that is.
We’d like to make some smart comments, but seeing as we haven’t read this magazine since being knee-high to a pop-sock, we’re ever so out of the loop. But you may like to make a note of the following:
- ‘World Exclusive: Interview and Shoot’? Pat on the back for that. That Jefferson Hack must’ve put in some overtime.
- ‘World Exclusive: (Interview and) Shoot’? If it’s a world exclusive (interview and) shoot, wouldn’t you do a shoot that doesn’t look like the press shots for Confessions on a Dance Floor?
- ‘World Exclusive: Interview and Shoot? We haven’t read the interview, but will be so bold as to imagine the interviewer was ingratiatingly fawning and didn’t dare question her marriage to a homophobe (ironic considering who buys her records), the irony of her renunciation of arguably her best and most self-defining period (the Sex one), her overbearing pretentiousness (she is smart; she doesn’t have to try and prove it the whole time), how someone so free-spirited can be suckered by Kabbalah, and c) and d). If the interviewer did broach the above, we’ll eat our bonnets.
Exactly! It all seems we’ve been here before. And calling it ‘An Issue of Reinvention’?? Retrospective, more like.
*lacklustre*
Golly, why bother? It really does look like they’ve taken one of the shots from inside of Confessions.
