Tissues at the ready *sniff sniff* Wellard kicks the bucket

Woof woof! Yes, you read us right, Wellard off-of the oldest dog in television history leaves Eastenders this week. Leaves, as in is killed off. Killed off, as in we see the vet pronounce him dead. Dead, as in he won’t return to the Square years later to bark the words ‘Ello princess’ when all else in his career has failed.

The tear-tastic event happens this week when the orange speckled one known as Bian(silent c)a finds the poor doggy lying lifeless among the toe nail clippings and ginger pubes on Pat’s carpet. She calls the vet but is told, ‘nuffink can be done’ and the doggy dies.

Wellard has been in the soap since crater-faced loser Robbie Jackson got him in 1994. Robbie then passed him onto binman Gus, who earlier this year whizzed off on ‘tour’ and sold him to Vinnie (played by Bobby ‘it worked for Shane Richie’ Davro) who returned Wellard to Jackson claws once again when he gave him to Bianca’s equally ginge daughter Tiffany Jackson.

The departure will undoubtedly rock the show considering Wellard is one of the biggest stars to grace the screen. Wellard (who is called Kyte in real-live life) has starred in A Touch of Frost, Gladiator and 102 Dalmations – he has a great range.

R.I.P. Wellard. :-(

  1. I found that really funny. Is that in bad taste? What with it being about death ‘n’ all.

  5. Do you think stroke victim Jim and Wellard the dog are the same person? He’s come back and Wellard’s leaving. Think about it, have you ever seen them in the same scene together?
