Cast your dolly minds back, ladies and gentleladies… ’twas the winter of ’06/’07, the location was London’s glittering Brick Lane, Truman Brewery if we’re being pedantic, and the occasion was Reindeer, the genius pop-up restaurant from the boys behind Bistroteque which was the hotty mchot ticket of the chilly season and had the likes of Mika and Kiki and Herb servicing us in the entertainment stakes, and every hob-nob trying to get in but mostly failing.
Ringing any bells? Ding-a-ling?
Well, this year those same Bistroteque chaps have only gone and decided to furnish us with another cheeeeeenius pop-up restaurant, but this time they’ve taken it up a notch. Flash will be its name, and it will open for 80 days this winter in the grounds of the Royal Academy of Arts *is impressed*, and will form part of the prestigious modern art exhibition, GSK Contemporary *ditto*. Your head chef will be Tom Collins, the interior they’re calling a ‘room-within-a-room’ replete with Giles Deacon-designed Swarovski chandelier, suit of armour by Gareth Pugh and a jumbo fuzzy felt by Rory Critchon, and it gets cracking from 1st November until 19th January.
More info, including how to book, here. Wethankyou.
