Well, we must say we admire Graham Norton’s humility as he steps into the high-heeled shoes of the brilliant Douglas Hodge as Albin in the glittering West End production of La Cage Aux Folles (which we hugely enjoyed, btw, though that might be the booze and poppers talking).
He’s even asked producers to sack him before the show opens rather than let him go on and ruin things and has admitted that it’s been a long time since he’s been this scared about doing something.
‘I am quite good at talking myself off the ledge… but you have to face the worst-case scenario which is that I’m appalling and we sell no tickets,’ he told the Telegraph, a magazine for clever people who would never be caught dead watching a West End musical, so well done you clever PR people.
Anyways, we wish him to break a leg and hope beyond hope that he’s sorted it out a bit since the perf we saw him do on the Royal Variety Show. Oof!
He starts on 19th January. So, soon.
