Before we even start on this, we think we should declare an interest: we think Madonna is a good actress. Controversial we know, milord, but we would like to present Exhibit A: Desperately Seeking Susan; Exhibit B: Evita; Exhibit C: pretending to like Guy Ritchie in that documentary.
Well, now – having become the highest earning pop star of the year at the age of 50 (and she’s still a tight minge, apparently! And switch ‘apparently’ with ‘fact. Apparently) – she’s decided to go back to acting. The project? A biopic of the woman who is generally regarded by Brits as a monster. Namely Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor aka the woman who lost Edward VIII his throne by marrying him even though as King he wasn’t allowed to marry a divorcee. Or a hooker. She was both.
‘Madonna sees Wallis Simpson as her next big film project,’ says saucy source (probably Lourdes earning some extra pocket cash). ‘She is as passionate about it as she was about playing Eva Peron in Evita… she is fascinated with this American commoner who refused to conform or offer explanations for her tangeled love life.’
Aparently, she has her house plastered with pictures of La Simpson. Yeah, so do we.
