I am not a homophobe, says the Daily Mail’s Amanda Platell in her column on Saturday. Oh, OK.
And then she tells you why gays are not fit to look after children. She might as well say she’s not a racist but would rather black people sat at the back of the bus. Honey, you’re a homophobe, start dealing with it. Self-knowledge is a wonderful thing.
According to Ms. P, science is proving – literally as we speak! – why children shouldn’t be brought up in a same sex household. It’s why she backed that heroin addict’s parents in their bid to adopt their grandchildren despite the fact they had been ruled out by experts. The reason, because the Mail does not usually champion the rights of drug abusers or their families, was simply because the couple who did clean up after this heterosexual mess by adopting those children were gay. Would it be fair at this point to say that the Nazis ‘proved’ Jews and gypsies – oh and homosexuals! – were scientifically inferior as well?
Stop press: new evidence in suggests that – hang on, one cotton-picking minute – some of Ms. Platell’s best friends are gay (henceforth to be known as the SOMBFAG Defence though quite what these gay ‘friends’ are doing hanging around with a renowned homophobe is something they obviously need to discuss with their therapists.)
Well, that’s a horse of an entirely different colour. Add to that she has actually been IN PERSON to a gay civil partnership ceremony (though whether the words ‘help me’ broke out in whelts on her skin is not reported), and is so close to one gay man she considers him her brother. Lowest of all shots is the claim that because two of her gay ‘friends’ died of AIDS she couldn’t possibly be a homophobe.
Handy tip: anyone who thinks gay men and lesbians are in any way inferior to an equivalent straight person is by definition a homophobe. And there we rest our Louis Vuitton case, milord.
