As long predicted by The Daily Mail, the end of civilisation has arrived. Four police stations have put up a rainbow flag to mark the International Day Against Homophobia. ‘I fear for the future of our children and grandchildren with things like this happening,’ says a Daily Mail reader in the comments section on their website.
Except if they’re gay or lesbian, one supposes. In which case, thanks to the efforts of gay campaigners and the police themselves, they can now expect not to be harrassed but treated like everyone else. It’s kind of what the International Day Against Homophobia is for. Get it?
‘The police should be treating everyone equally,’ goes another Daily Mail reader who – like The Daily Mail itself – seems not to have got the point. Before, in the olden days, when Thatcher stalked the country like a malevolent collossus, gays were not treated the same as everyone else. They were not treated – here’s your word! – equally. Now they are. The flag expresses that. It’s really not that tricky, Daily Mail readers.
Oh, and don’t bother going on to make a comment on the Daily Cunt website: those champions of free speech only publish views they agree with.
