Guilty Pleasures #12561517183

Bouncy bouncy

It’s the familiar tale of a Saturday eve. There you are lining your four stomachs, pouring the drinkettes and chitting the chat ahead of another night ont’ tiles, but something’s amiss? It’s the background amusement in the shape of people making fools of themselves. This used to come in the form of You’ve Been Framed and Jeremy Beadle’s withered hand, but the new kid on the Saturday early-eve block is Total Wipeout (7.20pm, BBC1, ok?).

It’s basically Takeshi’s Castle with a health and safety department, and tis very very funny – especially the Big Balls. Presented by Richard Hammond, who is large of hair and school-boy of speech, and Irish fox Amanda Byram, who is quite frankly cheenius in her sideline piss-takes of exhausted contestants, including the fatties, which is always fun.

So please tell us we are not alone in our j’adorance of Total Wipeout (of which there is a clip post-jump) and also, what be your guilty pleasures avid MwahMwahMwah-ers?

  2. There is no guilt involved with Come Dine. It is simply a pleasure. Espesh the celeb versions. And the Sunday marathon on More 4.

  4. Come Dine With Me is my flavourite. Especially when they sniff round each other’s council back bedrooms.

  5. me-me’s….you’re not alone. Our house is full of child-like mirth whenever TW or indeed TW USA is on. Normally of course it’s BBC4 documentaries, but one must make exceptions to provide lifestyle balance. And of course, people falling over will always be an eternal source of amusement.
