The fascinating story of a mad old Scottish bint who goes to a talent show and becomes famous – you couldn’t make this stuff up – is to become a movie. And though Meryl Streep was supposed to play her (we thought Hamble off-of Playschool would have been better, but there you go), the front-runner is now said to be one Robin Williams off-of… well, nothing recently.
‘I’ve been asked if I want to play Susan in the movie. I think she’s incredible,’ quoth he. ‘That clip of her singing on Britain’s Got Talent was extraordinary. So inspiring. It was quite a shock when she began to sing. I saw some other clip of her singing Cry Me A River a few years ago *falls asleep. Is woken by the smell of fresh tea and Jaffa Cakes to find Robin Williams is still speaking* It was incredible. She’s got a really great voice.’
You can tell why he’s one of the highest-paid ‘funny men’ in the bizz, can’t you.
