It may not be your idea of a fun night out – though where there are gays, there is eventually fun even if it starts out sober (in both senses of that word) – but you really have to be there.
Sparked by the homophobic murder of 62-year-old Ian Baynham in Trafalgar Square a couple of weeks back, someone very public-minded has organised a Candlelit Vigil to take place at the scene of the hate crime in Trafalgar Square on Friday after work.
It starts at 8pm (and no one would blame you if you had a stiffener before you arrived) and finishes at ten. And if you can’t make it down, perhaps you could observe the two-minute silence at 9pm, to remember everyone who’s ever had to go through homophobic violence.
