Snappy dresser Simon Cowell (damn, we’ve blown it already. Not Simon Cowell. We haven’t blown him. Not knowingly, anyhoo. We’ve blown the ‘not being snide’ thing) is putting together a high-quality single to raise cash moneys for the people of Haiti. Which is good for them, because they probably won’t ever have to hear the single.
The song of choice is that old REM ‘favourite’ ‘Everybody Hurts’ (just most people don’t hurt quite so much as those who have been trapped under a fallen building – so we’re not sure about the tastefulness of that choice), while the line-up of stars is, well, starry.
Starting at the top and working down we have Leona Lewis and Mariah Carey, Elton John, Rod Stewart and Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams and Take That (not together, but separate), then we come down to Susan Boyle, Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry.
And finally, bringing up the rear, Kylie Minogue.
Lovely Gordon Brown has waived VAT on the single which will be out on 7th February. We’re just going to give our money to people in the streets with buckets, thanks anyways.
