Yes ladies, gents and unisex toilets, the awards as handed out – ooh, a few hours ago – were for Song Of The Year (that’s the BIG one, if you don’t count Record of the Year, which went to Kings of Leon), Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song, and Best Contemporary R&B Album. And she would have got Best Rap if that bugger Jay-Z hadn’t nicked it.
Highlights of the show itself were a very sexy Maxwell receiving an award (whatever happened to…? Answers on a Hollie Hobby notelet), Lady Gaga singing a duet with Elton John done up as Lady Gaga (when is he not?), Pink swinging around over the heads of her peers (when is she not?) and former Little Miss Trouble Mary J. Blige bringing her new-found respectability to a shuddering climax with a duet with Andrea Boccelli.
