Nominations for the awards they invented to keep gay men off the streets for one night of the year are out! Unlike most of the nominees in those awards.

Of course I've farted! Do you think I always smell like this?

Yes, gentle theatre-going folk, it’s Tony time! As in Theatre of New York (we’re imagining) awards! As in The Tonys.

And what a nice selection it is. We are most pleased to see Valerie ‘Rhoda’ Harper get nommed for playing Tallulah Bankhead in Looped – great play, great performance and some great repartee. Our favourite: ‘Sorry for keeping you waiting darling. There was a long line at the ladies. *sniffs* It’s gone now though.’

Also very well represented is the London Chocolate Factory (that’s an actual theatre, not a sexual practice) production of La Cage Aux Folles, which we can’t recommend highly enough. Not in these shoes anyway.

The recently gay Sean Hayes off-of Will & Grace has got a nod for Promises, Promises but he’s up against Douglas Hodge from Cage, so doesn’t stand much of a chance.

Catherine Zeta Jones is nommed for A Little Night Music as is Dame Angela of Lansbury and Surrounds. Scarlett Johansson has been nominated for View from a Bridge, which is a shame as now she will be under the illusion that she can act. Oh, and pants off to Dame Judi Law who’s been named for Hamlet.

But you don’t need us to read them out for you. Here‘s the entire whole list.

  1. Lots of TV talent nominated – Frasier Crane, Alice from the 70’s sitcom, Rhoda from her 70’s sitcom, and of course Just Jack from Will and Grace.
