It may not be Telephone – nothing is ever gong to be Telephone again! – but the video offering for Ms. Lady GaGa’s new single Alejandro (it means ‘almonds’ in Spanish, apparently) is summing else. Crashed her site yesterday, it did, simply because so many people wanted to look on in wonder. Or her site’s not very well built. One or other.
And that video couldn’t have happened without the dolly gays of the world, many of whom crop up in the actual video for their moment of glory. You see, in a recent interview (which she doesn’t do well, bless her, though we love the skin and bones of her) she said that the vid is all about her relationship with her gays.
‘It’s a celebration and an admiration of gay love,’ sayeth she who shall be obeyed from now on (really, she is the only thing since Madonna to tread this path so expertly). ‘It confesses my envy of the courage and bravery they require to be together. In the video I’m pining for the love of my gay friends, but they just don’t want me to be with them.’
If by ‘pining’ she means ‘getting bummed by’ we get it. Let’s just say ‘men in high heels and bikini bottoms sixty-nining her’ and leave it there, shall we?
See the rather excellent video (all nine YouTube-ready minutes of it) over the jump…
