This is the official portrait to mark Princess Anne’s 60th birthday. Which is today.
*bobs a curtsey; remains low for quite some time*
Not a show off like some people we could mention *points; wiggles finger*, Princess Anne has opted/is opting for low-key celebrations. Even the dress, which starts here and goes all the way to there, is none of your la-di-da stuff. She in fact ran it up herself, using the ages-old tradition of asking someone else to do it. The necklace (now listen, because you may learn something) was a gift from Her Maj and Prince Philip and we think… yes… wa… just a… *places finger on earpiece*… Yes. We have a quote.
‘It is lovely.’
The portrait was taken at Gatcombe Park, her pile in Gloucestershire, just before she went on a cruise around the Outer Hebrides with the Royal Family – which was all the celebration Princess Anne wanted. S’true.
‘She loves going on these cruises because it gives her a chance to bag some more lighthouses,’ said somebody, probably whilst smiling. ‘She’s mad keen on them. She’s bagged pretty much half of Scotland’s 208 lighthouses and the prospect of another one or two constituted all the birthday treat she wanted.’
