The Great Gatsby? We’ll be the judge of that.

Leonardo DiCaprio, The Great Gatsby

Leonardo DiCaprio, who succumbed to middle-aged bloat at the age of 23, has been cast as Jay Gatsby in the moving picture of The Great Gatsby. You know, ‘voice full of money’ and all that. Was a pretty good line.

Carey Mulligan is playing Daisy Buchanan. The one with the ‘voice full of money’. Even though Barbra Streisand would have been more appropriate.

Baz Luhrmann is directing. His last film, you may remember, was Australia. It was shit. Our mother endured it, ooh, something ago after which she said, ‘Well, it’s no It’s A Wonderful Life.’

So far, so-so.

Baz Luhrmann is also responsible for the utterly implausible notion that a hot bloke would be attracted to Nicole Kidman for any other reason than she’s the most famous woman in the world. Whether she ‘loves to daaaaaaance’ or not is neither here nor there.

  1. Leonardo DiCaprio is box office poison for me.
