Yes, kids, she’s back. Well, kinda sorta. Anyone who listens to Radio 2 (there is no shame in it!) will have heard the new record ‘Deeper Understanding’ played for the first time today and we can all download it for ready money from tomorrow.
Also in the pipeline (and you probably knew this) is Director’s Cut, a ‘new’ album where KT (only fan club members will get that. Won’t they, Guy?) has retrod the hallowed ground of The Sensual World and The Red Shoes. That comes out on 16th May. And there’s a film starring Frances Barber and Noel Fielding (so that’s why she sent a special message when he was on that dance thing…) based on the song or somesuch.
Speaking of a new song ‘Flower of the Mountain’, which is ‘The Sensual World’ re-done, Ms. Bush explained (and non-crazy fans might think this is a bit too much information): ‘Originally when I wrote the song ‘The Sensual World’ I had used text from the end of Ulysses by James Joyce, put to a piece of music I had written. When I asked for permission to use the text I was refused, which was disappointing…
‘I then wrote my own lyrics for the song although I felt that the original idea had been more interesting. Well, I’m not James Joyce am I? When I came to work on this project I thought I would ask for permission again and this time they said yes. It is now re-titled Flower Of the Mountain and I am delighted that I have had the chance to fulfill the original concept.’
*goes and has a lie down with ‘The Man With the Child in his Eyes’ playing low in the background*
This next post goes out to Guy Pearce who is the biggest Kate Bush nut since... well, us (we have the 70s fan club sweatshirt and everything!),
