London’s Profile bar has closed! Where are we going to get our credit cards stolen now?

AYOR

Good old, bad old Profile is going the way of Gaydar Radio i.e. down (it’s owned by Gaydar, so that’s what that reference is all about).

The Soho bar where you could get two lunches for £10 completely untroubled by anyone else in the whole room and where, in the evening, you could mingle with muscle boys while completely unable to communicate because the music was so loud (that bit is starting to make sense now we’ve written the sentence)… is gawn. No more. Kaput. Over and out.

And so, should you need to mix with some fairly dubious characters while having your credit card stolen, the PIN number somehow cloned and then used to buy £200 worth of Chinese food at 1am in the morning, you’re buggered. We went – misguidedly – and out of a total of four of us, three lost their cards which had magically had the PIN numbers copied, the perps going on to spend hundreds and thousands of pounds sterling in dodgy businesses around and about the area. Nice people.

So, it’s with mixed feelings that we say goodbye to the Profile family. Now perhaps someone should do a – just a crazy idea this – nice gay bar that doesn’t pretend to be in South Beach but accepts it’s in the ancient bohemian heart of old London town. Just off the top of our heads.

  3. I once had my card cloned by a rabid queen in The Edge. I realised something was amiss when I had a transaction on my statement which turned out to be Boyz magazine. They were very helpful with my query and asked if I’d placed an ad as Fernando, 26, smooth versatile. I said no, I’m 25, hairy and a raging bottom. The refund was in my account in minutes.
