Rhoda – Mary Tyler Moore’s sidekick – is terminally ill!

Rhoda, created by James L. Brooks, who went on to do The Simpsons, created Rhoda as a single career girl running around Manhattan and eventually meeting Joe, the single hottest man on TV in the 70s. Her Jewish mother was played by Nancy Walker, her sister Brenda was Julie Kavner, who went on to become the voice of Marge Simpson. And yesterday Valerie Harper who played Rhoda, the woman who made us want to run around Manhattan and sleep with hot men with very hairy chests, announced she had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. We feel for her and will spend the day watching the entire first series on box set in her honour. Watch the trailer. Tell us that doesn’t look great.

  1. Seriously sad about this. I saw her playing Tallulah Bankhead in New York and she was absolutely amazing. :0(
